Irony as the Poetry of Humor
Olivia Trummer is an extremely sensitive individual, a tall and confident girl of 26, a bundle of temperament who enjoys laughing and views the world with an open and wise eye. The pianist and composer, born and living in Stuttgart, has significantly expanded her musical cosmos with her fourth album. The highly talented musician, who has earned many merits as a classical concert pianist but has caused a sensation primarily as a jazz pianist in recent years, approaches POESIEALBUM cheerfully and optimistically, defying all preconceived opinions and expectations. The versatile artist broadens her already wide-ranging stylistic spectrum on the nine recordings with sung songs, or rather, she conceives music landscapes that she fills with her voice and her thoughts, with cheerful to contemplative life-philosophical reflections. Jazz songs have rarely, if ever, been heard like this. After singing on her previous album NOBODY KNOWS (2010), inspired by her studies at the Manhattan School of Music in New York, for the first time on one of her albums, albeit mainly in English, on POESIEALBUM she relies entirely on her native language. True to the motto that irony is the poetry of humor, her sensitive contemplations on love, nature, and all the little things that make life worth living and enrich a POESIEALBUM, fit seamlessly into the subtle nuances of her extensive compositions.

Press:
"What remains particularly memorable, however, are the lyrics by Olivia Trummer, repeatedly placed at very surprising intersections between expansive improvisational sections. And that has literary merit, delightful passages (...) remain in memory for a long time."
nmz 02/12 (Gottfried Schalow)
"Olivia Trummer enchants with a uniquely colored, delicate poetry that cannot be found anywhere else in jazz."
Osnabrücker Zeitung 02/12 (Martina Binnig)
"Olivia Trummer's 'Poesiealbum' is exciting, enjoyable, picturesque, offering a brief hour of zest for life and, above all, a desire for even more musical poetry from Olivia Trummer."
kulturwoche.at 12/11 (Manfred Horak)
"Olivia Trummer is one of the best German jazz pianists (...) Clean sound, clean ensemble playing (...) These entries in the poetry album are fun."
AUDIO (SOUND TIP) 10/11 (Werner Stiefele)
"Olivia Trummer doesn't settle into the mainstream of jazz. Here, a master of suggestion presents herself, connecting the dots and delivering grand ideas on the 88 keys."
Michael Stürm 10/11
"No imitation of what's been done before (...) Jazzy. German lyrics. Influences from world music. Existentialism ... Trummer's poetry album absorbs all of this, reflecting and bundling it in a spirited kaleidoscope. Olivia Trummer's album stands out above all for its clarity, sense of sound, exceptional lineup, and musicality. Oh, and it's pleasantly diverse."
