product description
Johannes Hustedt - flute; Chai Min Werner - alphorn; Stephanie Kopf - harp
New harp since 2016: Cynthia Oppermann
Harp, alphorn, flute. The lineup is unusual and catches attention. Just like the unique repertoire presented by Trio Aperto.
The natural tones of the alphorn with its distinctive natural seventh and "Alphorn-F" resonate with the equally tempered tuning of the harp and are playfully intertwined with the flute.
Trio Aperto reinterprets classical works and combines them with rediscovered musical rarities and emotive Alpine sounds. Additionally, in collaboration with international composers such as David Babcock, Pascal Jugy, Siegmund Schmidt, and Hans-Jürg Sommer, new works have been specifically created for Trio Aperto.
Characteristic of the trio are their improvisations. The exceptional ability of the three musicians to draw entirely from the moment for their pieces is also evident in the reviews: "The improvisation evoked pronounced enthusiasm, in which all three musicians demonstrated their great class."

"Trio Aperto catches attention."
tonkünstler-forum 06/16
"The three soloists did not meet while herding cows on an alp or yodeling in nature, but bring their classically Western-influenced music culture. Above the fog, flute tones, harp, and deep natural tones: Open-minded trio, unusual lineup."
cinesoundz 04/16
"A CD that should not be missing in any discography of alphorn players."
alphornmusik.ch (Hans-Jürg Sommer)
"Wonderful new compositions - wonderfully played."
Alphorn-Center (Franz Schüssele)
"It is clear to hear, the three did not meet while herding cows on an alp or yodeling in nature but bring their classically Western-influenced music culture. Liberated from any tradition, the music of Trio Aperto creates unexpected landscapes in the listener."
