With FEARLESS FRIDAY, his sixth album, pianist Omer Klein presents both his latest compositions and the new line-up of his trio with bassist Haggai Cohen-Milo and drummer Amir Bresler, one of Israel's most remarkable young talents.
The change in personnel at the beginning of 2014 from drummer Ziv Ravitz to Amir Bresler simultaneously heralds a kind of change in direction for the trio. Throughout the year, the trio tours worldwide, introducing Klein's new lineup to international audiences.
"The three of us clicked from the first moment. I got very inspired to write new music for this band and explore new directions," says Klein.
After a year of touring together and a recording session at the Bauer Studios Ludwigsburg that can rightly be described as magical, the album Fearless Friday is both a grand culmination and a guiding light for the future of artist Omer Klein and his trio. The album features nine original compositions by Klein - most of the pieces were specifically created for this production - and a cover of Duke Ellington's Azure.
"I feel that we managed to give each song its unique atmosphere and distinct character. And since we toured a lot prior to the recording, our improvisations in the studio came out really fearless and daring. We were listening hard and embracing mystery and surprise," says Omer Klein about this album.
