Our 46th STUDIO CONCERT on Vinyl: ANDREAS DOMBERT Andreas Dombert - guitar Henning Sieverts – double bass Maximilian Breu – drums In 2015, guitarist and composer Andreas Dombert recorded his first album with his trio. After receiving high praise from both the press and audiences and being nominated for the Echo Jazz, the Andreas Dombert Trio now returns with a slightly changed lineup for a studio concert at Bauer Studios. For this occasion, he carefully selected his fellow musicians: With Henning Sieverts on bass, he was able to enlist another internationally renowned artist who defies all attempts at classification. He has been twice honored with the Neuer Deutscher Jazzpreis (New German Jazz Prize) and once with the Echo Jazz for his unique bass playing. Leipzig-based drummer Maximilian Breu has also been recognized multiple times for his skill and avant-garde style, always exploring new expression possibilities between acoustic and electronic elements. The musical range of composer Andreas Dombert is extremely broad, ranging from meditative to experimental, often within individual pieces. However, he always maintains a special sensitivity for melodies. His style is influenced by a variety of experiences—a delicate balance between epochs and regions. Influences include jazz, classical, minimalism, and classical modernism. This exciting blend exudes a warm melancholy and its own charisma. The evening's program is a mixture of Andreas Dombert's last two albums, moving between the meditative solo minimalism of "Guitar" and the more complex arrangements on his trio debut "35". Some of his older works are interspersed, showcasing Dombert's distinct touch: a fine feeling for melodies, a touch of blues here and there, and of course, extremely virtuosic improvisations. With Henning Sieverts on bass and Maximilian Breu on drums, Dombert finds a perfectly coordinated team by his side. Our sound engineer, Philipp Heck, ensures that the natural sound is appropriately highlighted on the analog recording. As usual, a pure analog recording, produced as 180-gram vinyl!
