No less than the legendary world-class cellist Mstislav Rostropovich coined this wonderful and apt quote during our collaboration for an international concert project in June 2005.
Inspired by this epochal statement, the idea for the new CD "CELLO CANTABILE" arose, featuring art songs by Robert Schumann, Johannes Brahms, Clara Schumann, Gabriel Fauré, Sergei Rachmaninoff, and George Gershwin.
In all these songs, the cello "sings" in all vocal ranges, sometimes like a soprano, sometimes like a baritone, as well as in various genres, proving once again that of all instruments, the cello is closest to the human voice.
