With the CD "Versöhnung" (Reconciliation), the Police Orchestra presents a recording that celebrates the power of reconciliation through selected works. The European anthem serves as a symbol of the ideal of a society that collectively strives for peace and equality. Maslanka's "Hymn for World Peace" demonstrates in a sonically intense work how the path to peace begins with each individual and can be the beginning of something great. James Barnes' Third Symphony, also known as "The Tragic," sensitively and personally portrays the journey from grief and fear to reconciliation with life and its vicissitudes. "Freedom above all" from Thomas Doss' "Symphony for Freedom" celebrates freedom with intense sounds as a declaration of commitment to life. The composition incorporates the "Ode to Joy," thus completing the circle back to the European anthem.
