With PLANS AND PLAYS, Berlin-based trumpeter Christian Meyers presents his third production under his own name and the second with Meyers Nachtcafe. This electric formation evokes thoughts of Roy Hargrove's RH Factor or the music of Rick Braun.
The band exclusively performs original compositions by Christian Meyers and Martin Johnson. They offer the full spectrum of funky jazz, driving grooves, and lounge-style tracks.
Since their first album in 2010, Meyers Nachtcafe has evolved into a well-received live act. Eckhard Stromer (drums), Alex Uhl (bass), and Rüdiger Nass (guitar) form one of the best-rehearsed rhythm sections in the southwest. Martin Johnson, as both accompanist and soloist on the Rhodes, as well as a producer, ensures an exceptionally high-quality band sound.
