With PLANS AND PLAYS, Berlin-based trumpeter Christian Meyers presents his third production under his name and the second with Meyers Nachtcafe. This electric ensemble evokes thoughts of Roy Hargrove's RH Factor or the music of Rick Braun. The band exclusively performs original compositions by Christian Meyers and Martin Johnson, showcasing the entire spectrum from funky jazz and driving grooves to lounge-inspired tunes.
Meyers Nachtcafe has evolved into a well-received live act since their first album in 2010. Eckhard Stromer (drums), Alex Uhl (bass), and Rüdiger Nass (guitar) form one of the best-rehearsed rhythm sections in the southwest. Martin Johnson, both as a accompanist and soloist on Rhodes, as well as a producer, ensures an exceptionally good band sound.
