product description
Marie Daniels - vocals, compositions; Tim Bücher - guitar; Moritz Götzen - double bass; Karl F. Degenhardt - drums
BREAK LOOSE, the debut album of the band Marie Mokati founded in 2014, knows no stylistic boundaries. Sometimes a gentle folk melody resonates, then an experimental rock song follows, all without fear of breaking conventions and reinventing them. A common thread that runs continuously is the honesty of the stories that singer, bandleader, and composer Marie Daniels tells from her life and observations.
The penetrating sound of the guitar, the warm tone of the double bass, mixed with the adventurous playing of the drummer and the expressive voice, create a unique band sound that spans a wide dynamic spectrum from very soft and fragile to loud and sensational. The musicians seamlessly blend jazz/experimental and pop.
The band Marie Mokati won 3rd place at the Sparda Jazz Award 2015 and performed at the 24th nationwide Jazz Youth Festival 2015.
