Just a glance at the tracklist of INTRODUCING makes it clear that Marialy Pacheco is a composer and arranger who fully embraces her musical roots and the music of her homeland, Cuba. From the very first note, one experiences how she has created something entirely new from these sounds and influences.

Confidently, Marialy Pacheco takes on the works of significant composers such as Eliseo Grenet, Moises Simons, Felipe Rosario Goyco, and Antonio María Romeu. With utmost respect for their original identities, the pianist reimagines them with her own personal touch, modernizing them and grounding them in the present moment. The simple and clear beauty of these traditional songs remains.

Similarly, as a composer, Marialy Pacheco tackles the three time-honored Cuban dance forms of Rumba, Danzón, and Conga with her Cuban Suite, dedicating a sequence to each. Translated into our contemporary language, she demonstrates a deep engagement with music-historical structures and strikes a balance between seriousness and technical finesse on one hand, without denying the lightness, exoticism, and fire of these Caribbean rhythms on the other.

With her original compositions, she tells deeply personal stories. They also impressively showcase her creative potential and Cuban soul, which naturally shines through in these thoroughly modern pieces.

To preserve the authentic and traditional Latin American sound while simultaneously creating something new and fresh, the two Colombian musicians, Juan Camilo Villa and Miguel Altamar, join this trio.
