product description

Jean-Christophe Cholet - Piano; Matthieu Michel - Trumpet, Flugelhorn

feat. Didier Ithursarry - Accordion; Heiri Känzig - Double Bass; Ramon Lopez - Drums

Following an album with Didier Ithursarry (accordion) and Ramon Lopez (drums) as guest musicians, the presence of Swiss double bassist Heiri Känzig enriches the duo of Cholet & Michel and its two partners for their new program EXTENDED WHISPERS.

In search of simplicity, complementarity, and openness to intimate melodies, the original whispering of the duo takes on entirely new dimensions. As with the last album, the lineup varies between duo, trio, quartet, and quintet. Each musician takes an important place and presents his own compositions. We recognize the colors of their journeys through the world, their deepest emotions.

Matthieu Michel (trumpet, flugelhorn)
... is one of the most sought-after musicians in Europe. With a recognizable voice and an extraordinary sense of melodies, Matthieu Michel has the ability to immerse the listener in a unique and captivating musical universe. As a member of the renowned Vienna Art Orchestra led by Mathias Rüegg for 15 years, Michel has produced and played on over 300 albums in approximately 40 countries (ECM, Blue Note, Universal, ACT...).

Jean-Christophe Cholet (piano)
... seems like one of the most singular figures in French improvised music. Despite a classical education, his works are rich and diverse - with a constant: artistic and cultural transversality. He combines contemporary harmonies with traditional singing, a jazz trio with a classical choir, or instruments that originally do not play together. His discography counts more than 20 albums, most of them as a leader.
