Live - Direct-To-2-Track
180 g Audiophile Vinyl Pressing
LIMITED EDITION
In a sleeve album with many technical details and photos of the concert.
It is difficult to categorize Maria João's music, as the Portuguese musician embraces a wide variety of musical styles, be it avant-garde, modern jazz, Latin American music or Portuguese folklore. Back in 1991, she recorded the album "Sol" with her former project Maria João & Grupo Cal Viva at the Bauer Studios in Ludwigsburg. Almost twenty-five years later - in April 2016 - she returned to Ludwigsburg with her project "Ogre".
Together with João Farinha on Fender Rhodes, Steinway grand piano and synthesizers as well as André Nascimento on laptop and sequencer, Maria João impresses above all with her huge and extensive vocal spectrum.
In addition to pieces from the current album "Plastic", the vinyl also features brilliant settings of some of William Shakespeare's works. During the studio concert, Maria João presented remarkable musical adaptations of "Othello", "Romeo and Juliet" and various sonnets by the British poet.
The result: an extraordinary and experimental vinyl record on which Maria João - Ogre succeeds in creating an impressive fusion of contemporary music and classical literature.
Press:
"Thanks to the acoustically perfect conditions, this is a singer in a class of her own"
