As a very active musician in both the Belgian jazz scene and internationally, Tom Bourgeois has realized an album for the first time as a bandleader and composer. His latest album MURMURES (Neuklang, NCD4184) is the result of hard work in composing for the acoustic quartet of the same name, which he formed in 2016.

The ensemble of saxophone, guitar, accordion, and vocals creates a poetic, idyllic atmosphere. Playing together or individually, they flow smoothly, resembling the movements of the human soul. Along the path of finding themselves, they improvise and eventually come into perfect harmony in a moment of unity.
Melancholic and warm at the same time, the music - composed by Tom Bourgeois - progresses through different stages, much like how a person goes through various passages in life.

In 2016, he teamed up with singer Lois Le Van, accordionist Thibault Dille, and guitarist Florent Jeunieaux, whose strongly defined musical styles accentuate his compositions. The sound created by the unusual acoustic lineup is transformed into true simplicity. While listening, one is led through a story that is already familiar to our ears. Tender, yet determined.
