The project EMMA by French-Swedish guitarist Paul Jarret is inspired by the wave of Swedish immigration to the United States in the second half of the 19th century. It addresses contemporary issues while exploring themes of exile and Scandinavian melodies. Together with his quartet, Jarret creates a form of chamber jazz that blurs the lines between improvised and minimalist music, traditional Swedish music, and liturgical music.
