Joining them is Matthias Anton, who impresses with his extremely versatile saxophone playing, well-versed in all styles, as well as Achim Schweikert, a solid and sensitive drummer.
The quartet shares a common reference point with the music city of Trossingen; all four musicians have frequently played together in various formations, which is unmistakable on this CD.
Completing the lineup is Frank Wellert, lead trumpeter of the HR Bigband, whose velvety flugelhorn sound catches the ear.
From the delicate bossa nova like the opening track "Sonho" (Portuguese for "Dream") by Wolfgang Ruß to the powerful "Round Trip" penned by Matthias Anton, from swing classics like Ellington's "In a Mellow Tone" to groovy sounds, this production offers a wide range of what we call 'jazz'.
