Europe-wide unique: Under the artistic direction of Austrian guitarist Wolfgang Muthspiel, six male and two female jazz musicians come together, selected by a panel of experts for the Focusyear at Jazzcampus Basel from submissions worldwide, to dedicate themselves intensively to music for an entire year with a scholarship alongside the Focusyear Band.
The selected musicians once again demonstrate the professionalism of this music project with multifaceted harmonies, refined melodies, and layered soundscapes. The compositions are characterized by virtuosic solos of the individual instruments and the merging of these into a colorful sonic tapestry, immersing the listener in the world of modern jazz. As the kickoff to this annual project, the Focusyear Band has once again created a comprehensive work at the highest level.
