product description
After the success of her first album *Chansons de Cologne*, bandleader Christine Corvisier couldn't let go of the formative melodies of her childhood. These familiar sounds were enriched by the influences of her musical journey in France, Germany, and the United States. For her new album, she was able to enlist the famous trombonist Marshall Gilkes as a guest, adding an extra dimension to the band's sound on several tracks.
Corvisier did not stop at reinterpretation: for some pieces, she arranged additional orchestral parts to fully showcase her versatile musical skills – from clarinet, flute, and bass clarinet to baritone, alto, and soprano saxophone, as well as vocals.
This second album goes beyond the interpretations of Charles Aznavour and Édith Piaf, which have long become Corvisier’s specialty. Works by Gilbert Bécaud and Charles Trenet are also part of the repertoire, leading them in surprising, fresh musical directions. Rounded off with impressive original compositions, it creates a cohesive work with a distinctly personal touch.
