Alexandra Netzold & Oliver Taupp: CELLO MEETS JAZZ

The renowned violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter inspired me to create this special album titled “CELLO MEETS JAZZ.” The iconic musician has recently ventured beyond the beautiful classical repertoire into new and interesting paths with her concert programs and CD recordings featuring the film music of John Williams.This inspired me to create an elegant fusion of classical concert dances and famous jazz works by Miles Davis, Claude Bolling, Antônio Carlos Jobim, and Chick Corea. In this way, the theme of “dance” as the seed of jazz connects all the pieces from both styles. For some time now, my musical heart has been beating for the art of jazz, and it was ultimately the legendary album “Kind Of Blue” by Miles Davis, that motivated me to explore these new artistic directions together with my highly esteemed piano partner and jazz colleague Oliver Taupp since 2022 ...
