DULE DULE is the second album by Vendredi Soir Swing. The quartet transcends the genre boundaries of traditional Gypsy Swing, drawing inspiration from Balkan music, jazz, and various contemporary styles, even presenting an electro-swing remix. The songs are spiced with partly Dadaistic lyrics, occasionally carrying a socio-critical undertone.
Most of the compositions are penned by Valentin Baumgartner. The tracks Dule Dule and The Engineer form a kind of compositional framework in the guitarist's approach. The pieces express the band's current style and are sometimes interconnected. For instance, Zarjier – Grandfather’s Song Part 1 and Tanze Wanze, Wanze tanze – Grandfather’s Song Part 2, as well as La Lune Manouche, were inspired by films.
In the best, deepest, and most artistic sense, DULE DULE is a concept album that deserves to be explored, experienced, and listened to repeatedly.
