With a history spanning over 400 years, the Stuttgart State Orchestra stands as one of Germany's oldest and most venerable ensembles. Under the direction of Peter von Lindpaintner in the 19th century, it was considered one of the finest orchestras in Europe. In 2002, the Stuttgart State Orchestra received the coveted title "Orchestra of the Year" for the first time in the Opernwelt magazine survey. The orchestra's repertoire focuses on works by Bruckner, Mahler, Beethoven, and Tchaikovsky, as well as compositions from the 20th century.
