product description
Michael Kiedaisch - Vibraphone; Matthias Stich - Saxophone; Florian Dölling - Bass; Matthias Daneck - Drums
Chamber Music Jazz par excellence
Vibraphonist Michael Kiedaisch and saxophonist and bass clarinetist Matthias Stich began their collaboration as a duo. The sonically appealing and rare combination of vibraphone/saxophone or bass clarinet demands the highest level of technical skill and flexibility. Starting from this challenge, both musicians composed or arranged suitable pieces, exclusively original compositions. The immense versatility of both musicians allowed for an increasing expansion of instrument combinations. Thus, the duo expanded with double bass and drums to form a quartet, offering additional playing variations. This resulted in a chamber music-oriented program, alternating between duo and quartet pieces, based on colorful harmonies, featuring lyrical melodies, pulsating with lively rhythms, and elaborated with imaginative improvisations.
The title "Nightsongs" suggests evocative soundscapes. Each piece has its own characteristic that becomes apparent to the listener without further explanation...
