Posönlich
After his Colours Jazz Orchestra and countless concerts with various formations, trombonist Massimo Morganti decided to take time for himself, to write very personal songs, and to implement them with the Massimorganti Quartet on MUSIPLANO.
One of his main goals is to showcase the trombone from its jazz side. Morganti wants to highlight its melodic aspect, the pure sound, but also the modern one, which is influenced in moderation by effects pedals. With the help of this altered sound, he succeeds in developing new musical ideas that are not directly associated with the familiar trombone voice.
Massimo Morganti has been playing with his musicians for a long time. This familiarity is particularly important to him as a bandleader because it allows him and the quartet to go in any musical direction at any time.
The idea of the title track Musiplano embodies exactly that: a comfortable musical journey, possible for everyone, at any time, to any place in the musical airplane - the Musiplano. However, the album is also characterized by very personal pieces such as the menacingly undulating "Signor K." or the melancholic "I'll Remember April," dedicated to Morganti's father, who died of cancer (Signor K.) in the month of April.
But there are also humorous moments on the album. "Bill Ates" is his very personal "settlement" with Microsoft's founder, whose Italian Word version constantly removed the G from Morganti's name in autocorrect, resulting in countless posters and concert announcements with his incomplete name.
