product description
Virtuoso Sound Experiments
The era of pure jazz interpretation is definitely over. Another indication of this is the new CD NEW GERMAN TIMBRES by German trumpeter Michael T. Otto.
With his international ensemble int. mto-jazz-quartet, he exclusively plays original compositions that are groundbreaking for the new generation of (German) jazz trumpeters and initiate new German jazz sound colors. Contrary to the electronic trend, the CD is also a purely acoustic, live-recorded production with plenty of "space." The very high virtuosity of the individual musicians supports Michael T. Otto's preference for musical avant-garde and the creativity of his diverse pieces. He possesses a level of originality that is difficult to surpass by the industry's greats.
The int. mto-jazz-quartet consists of musicians from the international jazz scene:
French jazz pianist and composer Olivier Hutman is one of the most sought-after pianists in Paris. Currently, he is the pianist and artistic director of French star jazz singer Anne Durcos, among other engagements.
American double bassist Andy McKee is a fixture in the New York jazz scene. He has been the bassist for the Mingus Big Band New York for years and has been a sideman for all jazz greats from Elvin Jones to Randy Brecker.
On drums, there is Swiss drummer Stefan Willi. A self-taught virtuoso who climbed to the top of the world with his delicate playing style in just a few years.
Michael T. Otto learned his trumpet craft at the Musikhochschule Köln with Prof. Malte Burba. This is noteworthy because, among others, Till Brönner, Axel Dörner, and Joo Kraus also learned their trumpet technique from Malte Burba. Michael T. Otto also learned the jazz craft in Cologne from New York pianist Peter Madsen.
