Montanara Chor

In 2003, the MontanaraChor celebrated its 45th anniversary. Founded in Stuttgart – not in South Tyrol – this choir has been captivating audiences and fans for four and a half decades with its distinctive sound and versatile repertoire, setting standards in the history of German choirs.

Concerts in Germany and abroad, numerous record productions, as well as radio and television appearances, have made this unique ensemble famous. The choir's first recordings of songs like "Jenseits des Tales," "Es löscht das Meer die Sonne aus," and especially the song "La Montanara" from Trentino became hits that are still highly requested in radio broadcasts today. What could be more fitting than naming the newly founded choir after one of these huge successes? "Der" MontanaraChor was born!

From its very beginning to today, the choir has consisted exclusively of trained singers. This has allowed the choir to maintain a distinctive profile and the highest artistic quality over the years. While the choir's repertoire at the beginning was almost exclusively in the folk choir singing genre, over time the ensemble demonstrated an increasingly diverse range of its vocal abilities: In addition to German folk songs, which the MontanaraChor still delights radio listeners and concertgoers with, the choir also captivates its audience with forays into traditional choir songs, international folklore, and evergreens.

The musical collaboration with other successful interpreters of folk music, such as the "Trumpeter from the Black Forest," Walter Scholz, turns beautiful melodies into unique interpretations. The probably unique constellation of this male choir may be the explanation for why the MontanaraChor is more in demand than ever at concerts, festive occasions, radio and television events, and, of course, on CD!
