A Distinctive Brew

Setting aside the band name, which may evoke memories of the legendary jazz-rock album by Miles Davis, the jazz quintet STITCHES BREW leads listeners on a unique musical journey with their album THE FLYING PIANO. The album presents a vocal "Stichian brew," characterized by the warm and supple alto voice of the talented jazz singer Julia Pellegrini. Featuring English lyrics by Nina Wurman, Gary Barone, and Matthias Stich, the songs delve into lyrical and emotional themes. Tracks like the light-hearted "Childhood Days Are Gone" or the unmistakable "Foreign Sounds" showcase the band's versatility impressively. The music relies on the sung word as a direct and emotional medium, placing the protagonist and the atmospheric songs at the forefront. Nonetheless, the other musicians of Stitches Brew have ample room to showcase their instrumental skills.

All compositions on "The Flying Piano" are penned by Freiburg saxophonist and composer Matthias Stich.
