Still in the Woods is a young band from Berlin and Leipzig, making waves since their formation in 2015 and the release of their acclaimed debut album "ROOTLESS TREE" (Neuklang, 2018) on club and festival stages across Germany and numerous countries in Europe. Free-spirited, experimental, and open to a variety of musical styles, the four exceptional musicians Anna Hauss (vocals), Robert Wienröder (piano, keys), Raphael Seidel (bass), and Hermann Spannenberger (drums) combine honest, sophisticated songwriting with energetic hip-hop grooves, jazzy harmonies, and melancholic post-rock sounds. As distinctive as their collective musical language is, Anna Hauss' voice, with its impressively emotional depth, leaves an indelible mark on this band's sound.

Now, Still in the Woods presents their second album: Flying Waves. And like their debut "Rootless Tree," it's much more than just a collection of beautiful songs. Stories are told—each piece its own little cosmos—that miraculously fit into an overarching context, musically and thematically.

Waves, waves, waves... We are surrounded by waves everywhere. They transmit data and acoustic signals, create connections, and propagate vibrations. Invisible in the air, visible in the water where they sometimes assume gigantic proportions and develop enormous forces.

FLYING WAVES is an album that deals with communication, self-talk, and observations of our time, with the elements of air and water playing prominent roles—and naturally intertwining these two levels. Some of the songs were created and recorded on a small Finnish island, supplemented by two intense work phases for composition, songwriting, and arrangements in Denmark, and the final recording sessions in Leipzig. Through this process, the pieces evolved over months—a comfortable timeframe that greatly benefited both the musicians and the songs. The sheer joy of experimentation, the playful approach to composition and arrangement, the freedom to experiment with instruments and voice, and the time dedicated to detailed work—all of this is evident in this work. An album that was allowed to come into being "in the flow." Songs whose special energy unfolds in the alternation of tension and relaxation.
