product description
Magnus Mehl - Alto- & Soprano Saxophone
Christian Mehler - Trumpet & Flugelhorn
Martin Schulte - Guitar
Philip Zoubek - Piano
Dietmar Fuhr - Double Bass
Ferenc Mehl - Drums
In Magnus Mehl's music, deeply personal and unique moments emerge. Six soloists merge into a collective sound in an impressive way.
"The idea for the project arose during an SWR production in the summer of 2020. For this radio recording, titled #zusammenspielen, I brought together the core of the band (Ferenc, Dietmar, Christian, and myself) for the first time. It clicked fantastically both personally and artistically/musically right from the start. The compositions on the album were all created specifically for these recordings and reflect my artistic journey so far," says Magnus Mehl.
The ensemble navigates between refined composition and imaginative improvisation, between powerful density and sparkling transparency, as well as between lyrical melancholy and gripping grooves.
