The Focusyear Band 21 quickly found their own sound, characterized by a high sense of sonic awareness and adventurous improvisational spirit. After many intense weeks with prominent coaches, the eight young musicians now present a selection of their own compositions that have emerged over the course of the year.
On BOSQUE, we hear a finely differentiated, homogeneous ensemble with outstanding soloists. Through the example of the young Italian pianist Lorenzo Vitolo, whose expansive improvisations and masterful compositions suggest a great career ahead, it becomes clear which musical values are attracted to and deepened by the Focusyear: interactivity, sonic awareness, compositional originality, a music-making on equal terms beyond hierarchies or ideologies, and a conscious, joyful approach to the language of jazz.
Recorded by Patrik Zosso at Jazzcampus Studio Basel
Mixed and mastered by Patrik Zosso at CYH
