Hans Thamm und der Windsbacher Knabenchor

Since its founding by former Crucianer Hans Thamm in 1946, the Windsbacher Knabenchor has shaped and musically connected generations of young people. More than 1500 boys and young men have spent a significant portion of their lives in the Windsbach choir boarding school. The boys who were admitted to the choir back then now belong to the "80 plus" generation. As for the current young singers who come to Windsbach, they could be their grandchildren or great-grandchildren. Since 2012, the choir has been led by Hans Thamm's successor: Martin Lehmann, also a former Crucianer.

With up to 50 performances annually in Bavaria, Germany, and abroad, the choir captivates thousands of concertgoers each year. The Windsbacher made history when they became the first German ensemble of the post-war era to perform the uncut St. Matthew Passion in Israel. During official state visits with various German Presidents, they became musical ambassadors of their homeland. From the "Provinzchörle" of the 1950s, it has become one of the most respected boys' choirs in the world.
