Verworner-Krause-Kammerorchester (VKKO)

A driving rhythm, electronic beats, accompanied by delicate string sounds, and a melancholic voice. The Verworner-Krause Chamber Orchestra (VKKO), founded in 2014, brings together contrasting musical styles and creates a new sonic universe with its first album, BASIC SOUL ENCODER. It captivates from the very first moment and doesn't let go easily even after the last note.
Fascinated by the hypnotic effect of electronic music, composers Christopher Verworner and Claas Krause use it as the starting point for their pieces. Both studied composition at the University of Music in Munich and share the vision of an orchestral sound body that spans from contemporary classical music to techno, from impressionistic sound structures to modern electronica – no reservations between seemingly opposing musical styles.
The album features a mix of calm, melodic pieces and powerful compositions dominated by assertive trombones. Solid structures are repeatedly broken by airy jazz improvisations, earthy grooves, and orchestral moments. At its core is the significance of the computer for humans. A film unfolds in the mind's eye, telling the story of a person trapped between times.
