The Grand Ensemble Koa is coming to Ludwigsburg in November 2026 for an exclusive studio concert. The eight-piece band led by bassist and composer Alfred Vilayleck will present its new program, “Résistances”—a powerful musical statement for freedom and resistance.

Since its founding in 2008, the ensemble from Montpellier has established itself as an innovative force in European jazz. Their music combines virtuoso improvisation with complex grooves, contemporary composition, and rock elements.

In “Résistances,” the group sets to music texts by three prominent figures of the 20th century: the Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish, the Beat poet Allen Ginsberg, and the Burmese Nobel Peace Prize laureate Aung San Suu Kyi. Alfred Vilayleck’s compositions and Caroline Sentis’s expressive vocals create a rich tapestry of sound that balances energy, contemplation, and vulnerability.
