Adriana Hölszky: Segmente II, Monolog, Wolke und Mond, WeltenEnden, Avance (World Premiere Recording!)
Captivating, imaginative, and exciting
For years, recordings of Adriana Hölszky's music have been out of print, despite her success as a composer worldwide. She has created work after work, and now, finally, the klangwerkstatt weimar, a renowned ensemble, has taken on the task of recording some of Hölszky's newer and previously unrecorded pieces. With great dedication from the ensemble and top-notch technical equipment from the Bauer Studios, five world premiere recordings have been produced, bearing witness to the value of Adriana Hölszky's compositions with captivating, imaginative, and exciting interpretations.
In addition to the classical concert form and improvisation, the klangwerkstatt weimar experiments with different forms of presentation, incorporating electronics, visual arts, and dance, among others. The ensemble enjoys performing in unconventional venues as well as traditional ones. The musicians have gained significant experience through collaborations with composers such as Isang Yun, Georg Katzer, Helmut Lachenmann, Toshio Hosokawa, Yonghi Pagh-Paan, Isabel Mundry, Andreas Scartazzini, Dieter Ammann, Adriana Hölszky, and George Crumb. It is equally important for the musicians to cultivate personal encounters with composers alongside their interpretation of the works.
"The encounter with the exceptional performers of the klangwerkstatt weimar was one of the most inspiring working phases I have ever had with an ensemble. My works 'Segments II', 'Monologue', 'Cloud and Moon', 'Worlds Ends', and 'Avance' found the best possible interpretation through the klangwerkstatt weimar ensemble. The sophistication, subtlety, and plasticity of the means employed make the ensemble's performances and recordings magnificent. The performers Armin Bachmann (trombone), Christoph Ritter (piano), Christina Meißner (cello), Klaus Wegener (clarinet), Claudia Buder (accordion), Karen Leonie Leiber (voice), and Matthias Schröder (percussion) excel in ensemble playing and are highly committed. Their creative spirit and enormous imaginative power result in the ensemble's unmistakable sound. The klangwerkstatt weimar is a world-class ensemble."
