product description

Sivan Talmor – Lyrics, music, vocals, guitars

No one necessarily has to believe in hypnosis. However, anyone who hears the voice of Sivan Talmor will subsequently have to live with quiet doubts. The young woman is simply fascinating.

After a debut album entirely sung in Hebrew, recorded in New York, the singer presented her second album in 2016: FIRE. On this CD, produced by Ori Winikur (known for his work with Asaf Avidan and the Mojos), impressive musicians such as trumpeter Avishai Cohen or percussionist Itamar Doari also play.

The new compositions - this time sung in English - gracefully move between pop and folk. It's a kind of music that allows you to dream with your eyes open.

Sivan Talmor has performed in many musicals in Israel. Later, she became the lead singer of the Israeli Army Band, with which she performed hundreds of concerts in Israel and abroad. In recent years, she has collaborated with many of Israel's most important artists.

"I believe that my work has changed a lot since my first album. Now I rest in myself, I can speak softly, I don't have to shout for people to listen to me. With my songs, I would like to tell my story so that people can find their memories in it, float in space without hate, without prohibitions. This feeling I would like to convey."

Press:

"With her gentle, classical voice and casually elegant, yet sparingly composed arrangements, Sivan Talmor and her band conjure up a beautiful soundtrack for a golden late summer, despite or because of some melancholic references." - Aviva Berlin 28.07.16

"(Sivan Talmor) emerges as a promising singer/songwriter talent of international class. On FIRE, she enchants with her gentle, soothing voice and subtle, intimate songs that skillfully combine poetic lyrics and charming melodies." - Musikwoche #34-35

"FIRE is a seven-part almanac of global pop of such enchanting intensity that the world is not enough for it. A dreamy beautiful album to relax and stay tuned." - Freitagsmusik 12.08.2016

"FIRE is a profoundly compelling jewel of seven songs with a runtime of 27 minutes. But they pack a punch." - Jazzthing 09-10/16

"Upon hearing FIRE for the first time - and thereby (only) seven songs, it's difficult to forget the voice of the young Israeli. The material, situated between folk, pop, and jazz, is too delicate; her singing, angelic; complemented by subtle and permeable arrangements, it brings to mind French chanson nymphs as well as Agnes Obel & Co." - Mbeat mag 09/16

"And that's what the singer/songwriter does with her guitar, calmly, with seven beautiful pop-folk songs on her first English-language, but overall second album FIRE. Her singing is tender and intimate, as if she's whispering little stories in your ear." - Melodiva 08/16

"Her album FIRE is now the result of her newfound direction. Simple, deeply felt music, whose style ranges from the steel-stringed Ennio Morricone sound to larger arranged Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young elements. Led by an authentic voice without caprices, reminiscent of the French nonchalance of Lou Doillon." - MDR Kultur 15.08.16

"Filigree songs for sensitive people, but not the usual singer-songwriter sensitivity, fragile songs, to be sung with a delicate girl's voice to sparse guitar, but fully orchestrated, beautifully arranged, the voice embedded in a sometimes opulent soundtrack. But well done and a tip for all who still want to be touched by music." - SR 2 16.08.16
