product description

Ludwig van Beethoven: Sonata in C Major, Op. 53 "Waldstein Sonata", Piano Concerto No. 2 in B-flat Major, Op. 19
Joseph Moog: Sonata, Op. 5
At the age of 16, already one of the most outstanding young pianists internationally

On this CD, Joseph Moog demonstrates his versatility as both an interpreter and a composer. He is accompanied by the Georgian Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Markus Poschner.

At the age of 16, Joseph Moog is already recognized internationally as one of the most outstanding young pianists. He attracts special attention due to his remarkable maturity and his compositions, which he regularly presents in the context of his recitals. He does not solely focus on his instrument but also explores the relationships between individual compositions and seeks connections between music and other arts.
This CD presents the excellent young artist, his interpretations, and his compositional work. It illustrates the parallelism with Ludwig van Beethoven, who, at approximately the same age, as a highly gifted musician with an inner drive for art, steadily developed his musical independence through skill and perfection. Joseph Moog demonstrates this as well with his Piano Sonata Op. 5, creating a beautiful and sensual narrative.

Joseph Moog was born in December 1987 in Neustadt and began piano lessons at the age of four. He soon started composing. From 1998 to 2001, he was a pre-college student at the State University of Music Karlsruhe with Prof. Sontraud Speidel and attended masterclasses with Prof. John O’Connor, Dublin, and Prof. Miguel Proenca, Rio de Janeiro. He has won numerous prizes and awards at "Jugend musiziert" at the state and federal levels, at the Matthaes Piano Competition in Stuttgart, as well as scholarships from the Vienna Music Seminar and the Richard Wagner Association.
