"Small Moment of Stars: Corinna Simon meets Philipp Riedel"
The classical soprano Corinna Simon meets the unclassical composer Philipp Riedel. Something new is born: poems from three centuries of world literature form the basis for a new art song. Corinna Simon and Philipp Riedel have a talent for combining classical elements with those of jazz and chansons. Astonished and overwhelmed, one notices the immediate relevance of the poems; they deeply touch the listener. Like in a trance, Philipp Riedel makes the piano sound, emphasizing the poem experience with his young, equally balanced music, intensifying it at the same time. Music and poetry merge, carried by Corinna Simon's refreshingly lively singing. Her naturalness and passionate, soulful expression captivate the listener. The primal power of poetry is omnipresent. This music comes from the depths of the soul, urging to be heard, not allowing one to pass by indifferently. Word and sound are a unity, music and singing, Riedel and Simon. Look forward to a sung reading of a special kind!
Corinna Simon (soprano) was born in Dresden in 1973. Early on, she recognized her artistic inclinations and received training in singing, acting, speech training, and dance, but then decided to study classical singing with Viktoria Promny-Göpfert. For years, she has regularly performed on stage with classical song recitals.
Philipp Riedel (piano), born in 1975 in Middle Franconia, studied musicology and cultural management in Weimar. Since 2004, he has lived in Dresden and works as a composer and performer. His focus is on setting existing poetry to music - both traditional and modern.
