Jade Quartett / Cuarteto Leonor
JADE not only denotes the culturally significant stone in China. JA represents Asia, the homeland of the four young musicians who met in Germany - DE- to make music together (Han-Lin Liang - violin, Hyun-Ji You - violin, Daniel Rehfeldt - viola, Shih-Yu Yu - cello).
Formed in 2002, the quartet was invited to the Osaka International Chamber Music Competition later that year, where it participated with great success. An intensive concert career followed: With over 40 concerts per year, the Jade Quartet is among the most promising young string quartets. The ensemble is regularly invited to prominent festivals such as the Oberstdorf Music Summer or the Musical Summer in East Frisia, and performs in various countries in Europe, Taiwan, and Japan.
Their recent accolades include the 1st prize at the nationwide university competition in 2004 and the Iris Marquart Prize. The Jade Quartet is also a recipient of scholarships from the Villa Musica Foundation and the Karl Klingler Foundation. A highlight of their career was winning the 3rd prize at the Osaka International Chamber Music Competition in 2005. In February 2006, the four musicians graduated with distinction from the Chamber Music with String Quartet program.
