"Foaie Verde" means "Green Leaf" in Romanian, but it's also an exclamation of delight, emotion, or astonishment. Both meanings aptly describe the album "MUSIK DER SINTI UND ROMA": vibrant, powerful, and full of emotions.
Just as a young leaf carries within its cells the memories of the entire tree, this music is rooted in the vital tradition of the Sinti and Roma of the Balkans, which has been carried through the centuries and into the present.
Musically at the highest level, exploring all facets of musical expression, Foaie Verde draws listeners into an ecstatic whirlwind of tones and sounds that they will carry with them like stored solar energy. Green leaves can do that!
"What has been passed down here for centuries, from the mouth of the father to the ear of the son, without the detour of writing, is truly great opera that feels as fresh as a 'green leaf'. The Roma are right when they say, 'This music belongs to the whole world.' That's how it should be!" - Jossi Wieler (Intendant of the Stuttgart Opera)
