Eberhard Budziat Bigband Project – Music; Vincent Klink – Speaker and Texts
Born in 1961 in Esslingen and rooted as a trombonist in the Swabian Music Association (Esslingen/Liebersbronn), Eberhard Budziat immersed himself fully in the groove of jazz during his jazz and composition studies as a scholarship holder at the renowned Denton School of Music in Texas, USA. He returned to his Swabian homeland via Munich as a versatile musician and composer. For the past 8 years, he has been living with his wife in Korb in the Rems Valley.
During this time, he drew inspiration from his chosen home, the history and stories of the Rems Valley, and the people living here. This inspiration led to the creation of the Rems Valley Symphony. "Every person needs a home. The Rems Valley Symphony expresses how I experience the region where I have made my home."
With his music, Eberhard Budziat describes how he experiences the region along the Rems River: Musically jazzy in the 1st movement, depicting the morning traffic jam on the federal highway where various music from car windows blends into entirely new sounds, a wine festival with a Cha-Cha-Cha excursion through different keys in the 2nd part. In the 3rd movement, "Swab Soul" (the "Swabian Soul"), it becomes soulful and solemn, and in the 4th movement of the symphony, "Kibudzi," he tells in Klezmer style about his Eastern European neighbors and their family celebrations in the adjacent garden.
Eberhard Budziat's compositions touch and move, they are powerful, passionate, reflective, and tender. He connects the sounds of our homeland with the wider world, incorporating Eastern European colors to South American rhythms. The fantastic jazz musicians in his band complement the pieces with expressive solos.
In turn, Vincent Klink drew inspiration from the colorful music. In his self-spoken texts, Vincent Klink addresses the Swabian spirit of contradiction, historical and current topics, from the source of the Rems along to the Hechtkopf in Neckarrems.
