Eberhard Budziat
Born in Esslingen in 1961 and rooted as a trombonist in the Swabian Music Association (Esslingen/Liebersbronn), Eberhard Budziat immersed himself fully in the groove of jazz as a scholarship holder at the renowned Music College in Denton, Texas, USA, during his jazz and composition studies. He returned as a versatile musician and composer from Munich to his Swabian homeland. For the past 8 years, he has been living with his wife in Korb in the Remstal.
During this time, he drew inspiration from his chosen home, the history and stories of the Remstal, and the narratives of the people living here. This inspiration gave rise to the Remstal Symphony. "Every person needs a home. The Remstal Symphony expresses how I experience the region in which I have found my home."
With his music, Eberhard Budziat describes how he experiences the region along the Rems: musically jazzy in the first movement, capturing the morning traffic jam on the federal road, where various types of music from car windows blend into entirely new sounds. The second part portrays a wine festival with a Cha-Cha-Cha journey through different keys. In the third movement, "Swab Soul," it becomes soulful and festive, and in the fourth movement of the symphony, "Kibudzi," he tells in Klezmer style about his Eastern European neighbors and their family celebrations in the adjacent garden.
Eberhard Budziat's compositions touch and move; they are powerful, passionate, thoughtful, and tender. He connects the sounds of the homeland with the wider world, incorporating Eastern European colors to South American rhythms. The fantastic jazz musicians in his band complement the pieces with expressive solos. Vincent Klink, inspired by the colorful music, includes self-spoken texts in which he addresses Swabian contrariness, historical and current topics, from the source of the Rems to Hechtkopf in Neckarrems.
