Wonderful Brass Connection
With "Wonderful World," the munich brass connection delivers not just their debut album, but a production that combines the highest musical standards with an entertaining listening experience. Copland's "Fanfare for the Common Man" serves as a fitting introduction to this collection of American composers. With Kerry Turner's impressive tone poem "The Casbah of Tetouan," the five brass players transport the listener into unique soundscapes. Additionally, "Wonderful World" features many premiere recordings, including Ingo Luis's arrangement of "West Side Story" specifically for the ensemble.
The five musicians, who have already established themselves in orchestras such as the Bavarian State Orchestra and the Munich Radio Orchestra, have known each other for a decade. Founded in 1998 as Brassecco, they won the first prize at "Jugend musiziert" in 1999, laying the foundation for a chamber music ensemble with high musical demands and goals. The award of the 3rd prize as the best German brass quintet at the International Jan Koetsier Competition in 2006 marked the beginning of a busy concert activity at home and abroad.
The ensemble's repertoire covers all styles from Baroque to Jazz – from Bach to Brubeck. It combines arrangements of classical works and original compositions for brass ensembles with musical evergreens and jazz standards.
