product description
It is very unusual to experience this instrument in the foreground. However, that is precisely the task tubist Florian Coutet has set for himself with his debut album "KEEP IN TOUCH": he wants to introduce the listener to the harmonic spectrum that his instrument, the tuba, has to offer.
To achieve this, he has surrounded himself with first-class musicians: harpist Manon Louis, pianist Véronique Goudin-Léger, euphonium player Pauline Chacon, cellist Thierry Amadi, brass quintet Smart Is Brass, and trumpeter Gérald Rolland, each of whom reflects a characteristic trait of the tubist. With their help, he compiles works on his album that are close to his heart and whose varied repertoire unveils the facets of his instrument.
Listeners will discover the gentle and soulful duet with harpist Manon Louis in Astor Piazzolla's "Café 1930," as well as in Maurice Ravel's "Vocalise en forme de Habanera," the first piece on the album. The contrast is formed by the duo that the tuba forms with the cello in Meyer Kupferman's "Saturnalis": a question-and-answer game in which the two musicians venture to an almost supernatural place. With his colleagues from the brass family, Coutet concludes his album with Oscar Böhme's "Trompeten-Sextett in E flat op. 30," shining a brilliant finale.
"KEEP IN TOUCH" is the exchange of music that touches, speaks to us, and above all, unites us in the moment of listening.
