The ALBIREO Flute Quartet was founded in 1980 by Shigeko Fukui in Kyoto, Japan. Albireo successfully passed the audition for the "Japan Music Society" and performed numerous concerts both domestically and internationally. In celebration of "Japan in Germany 2000," Albireo toured eight German cities. A significant Germany tour followed in 2001. In 2002 and 2003, the quartet made appearances on Japanese television. To date, Albireo has produced three CDs, which, along with their live performances, have garnered much acclaim in the specialized press.
The members of the Albireo Quartet are Japanese flutists from two generations who honed their skills under European masters after completing their studies in Japan.
