Logbook of a Musical Exploration
With their album DEPART, the Matthias Siegrist Logbook embarks on a musical expedition: the band is the crew, the stage the research vessel, and the pulse the wind in the sails. They must navigate stormy seas, sail around dangerous capes, and brave icy cold to follow the traveler's longing, to discover special moments, and to pause and savor them. To lose oneself without being lost with "Not Lost", to simply drift away with "Let it Go", or to depart directly, heading towards new sonic shores with "Depart". Each song tells of a different journey, each solo recounts individual experiences. On their sophomore album DEPART, Matthias Siegrist and his quartet have clearly evolved. The band has become a strong unit, harmonizing perfectly and delighting with their boundless joy of playing.
Matthias Siegrist Logbook - not a loose group of individualists, but a collective with strong internal cohesion and great musical radiance.
Matthias Siegrist's former teacher, Wolfgang Muthspiel, recognized his musical talent early on, his harmonic richness, and his outstanding sense of timing and phrasing. "More reflective than many of his colleagues, he brings something to life that comes from his own center," describes Muthspiel the individual, poetic character of the compositions.
