Musical Landscape Views
The Swiss trio Hellmüller Sisera Renold is an extremely well-coordinated team and demonstrates this impressively on "9 VIEWS OF A LANDSCAPE." They are, in the truest sense, three kindred spirits, and you immediately sense that they feel comfortable exploring various musical landscapes. On one hand, they play song-like, lyrical original compositions such as the very catchy "Unterwegs," which bears the signature of the sensitive guitarist Franz Hellmüller. On the other hand, they immerse themselves with an exceedingly refreshing spontaneity in their free improvisations; for example, on the journey from lonely Alaska to the stress-filled Wall Street. But you'll also hear exotic, noisy, almost eerie miniatures on "9 Views Of A Landscape."
Styles and the associated pigeonholing were never important to the trio. Instead, the focus is on forming a musical and natural unity; creating and celebrating a distinctive trio sound. The music should arise naturally and unpretentiously, constantly reinvented through improvisation and unbridled joy of playing. As a guest, the Swedish trumpeter Lars Lindvall can be heard on some tracks, masterfully integrating himself into the trio and its language. In short, here you can listen to the finest young European jazz!
Franz Hellmüller is a graduate of the American School of Modern Music, Paris, and the Lucerne School of Music, where he graduated with honors in 2003. Luca Sisera also studied at the Lucerne School of Music and, like Franz Hellmüller, received the Axelle and Max Koch Cultural Foundation Recognition Award. Tony Renold studied with Pierre Favre and Billy Brooks. He has been a constant presence in the Aargau music scene for over 25 years.
