Landes-Akkordeon-BigBand Hessen "A-Train": TAKE THE A-TRAIN

A-TRAIN embarked on its journey in October 2000 in Wiesbaden as the State Accordion Big Band of Hessen, with a dedicated team of passionate accordionists ready to devote themselves to big band music and introduce the accordion into the swing and jazz scene in an unprecedented breadth. It was not intended to be an intimate jazz ensemble but rather a big band with a full sound. Accordionists trained in a series of jazz/rock/pop workshops enthusiastically embraced the challenge of presenting both specially arranged standards and rarely heard big band arrangements on the accordion to the audience in a stylish manner. The band follows the course set by their bandleader Wolfgang Russ with great enthusiasm, who, as leader and arranger, set A-TRAIN on its tracks.


A-TRAIN has made stops at many stations in Germany and neighboring countries. Numerous concerts and performances at city festivals, international music festivals, and rock concerts mark the stops along the journey through the first decade of this accordion big band. The skilled interaction with its soloists results in a distinctive sound. Playfulness and expressiveness characterize the explosive live band that captivates its audience.



The band has arrived at its first CD. Impressively, the recording showcases the musical spectrum of ten years of A-TRAIN. On the track of big band music, A-TRAIN presents a variety of musical styles: swing, rock, pop, Latin, and jazz.
