product description

"Circulo Mágico" is the new CD featuring the virtuosic collaboration of Wally Hase and Thomas Müller-Pering. The title also denotes a brilliant composition by Sérgio Assad: "Circulo Mágico" - the magical circle - metaphorically bridges various musical worlds, which, nevertheless, come closer and blend together in a magical way within the pulsating cycle of musical forms and styles.

Hase and Müller-Pering, like few other ensembles, master the art of perfect harmony - even symbiotically, yet with individuality - captivating the listener on a musical journey across continents: the subtle impressionistic colors and sounds of Maurice Ravel, the vital percussive rhythm of Puerto Rican composer Ernesto Cordero, and the joyfully spirited melodies of Celso Machado from Brazil are presented with great impulsiveness and expressiveness, yet with sensitive differentiation. Additionally, the depths of passion and melancholy in the Argentine Tango Nuevo by the unforgettable Astor Piazzolla are accentuated and fully explored, utilizing the full range of the instruments' capabilities.

Wally Hase (flute) and Thomas Müller-Pering (guitar) have been performing together since 1999. Both serve as professors at the University of Music "Franz Liszt" in Weimar.

Wally Hase began her studies in 1986 at the University of Music Stuttgart with Prof. Karl Friedrich Mess, after receiving a scholarship to the World Youth Symphony Orchestra in the USA the same year. She continued her studies with Prof. Jean-Claude Gérard and Prof. Aurèle Nicolet. As a member of the Ludwigsburg Festival Orchestra, Wally Hase toured China, Japan, and South America. In 1990, she received a scholarship from the Freiburg Richard Wagner Association for the Bayreuth Festival. Hase was a member of the Karlsruhe ENSEMBLE 13 and the Bach Collegium Stuttgart under the direction of Helmuth Rilling. Before completing her studies, she was engaged as principal flutist of the Staatskapelle Weimar starting from the 1992/93 season. Her versatile engagement as a soloist, chamber musician, and founding member of various ensembles is complemented by CD recordings, television and radio productions, as well as numerous concerts, courses, and jury activities in Germany, Europe, and Korea.

Guitarist Thomas Müller-Pering studied from 1975 to 1980 with Prof. Tadashi Sasaki at the Cologne University of Music and attended numerous master classes, including those with Siegfried Behrend, José Tomás, Oscar Ghiglia, and John Williams. He won several international prizes and awards. Since 1978, concert tours have regularly taken him to Europe, North and South America, Cuba, and North Africa. In Japan, he released his first two CDs, and in 1988, as one of the first guitarists, he released a 60-minute video recital. Since 2003, Thomas Müller-Pering has been a member of the World Guitar Ensemble.

Press:
"A small, great, wonderfully delicate triumph of the magical. And great amazement at what sensitivities harmoniously aligned can produce."
