product description
The French composer and guitarist Antoine de L'Hoyer (1768-1852) arranged Mozart's "The Magic Flute" to meet the widespread demand of the time for music that was currently in vogue in the opera or concert hall to be performed in the home salon. L'Hoyer's arrangement interestingly focuses on the scenes with Tamino, Pamina, Papageno, Sarastro, and Monostatos, and had completely fallen into obscurity until the present recording.
Trio Con Brio had the great fortune of discovering this "treasure chest" with the American music publisher and researcher Mataney Phee, and to be able to release it! They present the highlights of "The Magic Flute" in a dense, orchestral-like sound and surprise listeners with an extraordinary listening experience.
TrioConBrio consists of Andrea Förderreuther on guitar, Johannes Hustedt on flute, and Carolin Kriegbaum on viola. A trio with spirit, wit, charm, and fire, which many reviewers believe is perfectly characterized by its name. Three outstanding musicians have been working together since 1990 with the highest artistic standards. Trio Con Brio garners enthusiastic reactions and unconditional approval with its conceptually unorthodox repertoire. Esteemed composers such as Léo Brouwer, Sérgio Assad, Egberto Gismonti, Sidney Corbett, among others, have created works specifically for the trio. In addition to their own spectacular arrangements, the musicians have rediscovered lost or forgotten works by composers of the 18th and 19th centuries for the concert repertoire. The group has received scholarships from Villa Musica, Rheinland-Pfalz, the Ministry of Culture of Baden-Württemberg, and the Donors' Association for the Promotion of Sciences and Humanities in Germany. Concert tours, invitations to renowned festivals, and numerous radio and television appearances have established Trio Con Brio in the international music scene.
