product description
Jens Düppe - drums, voice
Frederik Köster - trumpet
Lars Duppler - piano
Christian Ramond - bass
This album is more than a concept album; it's a kind of manifesto. It begins with spoken word leading into pure percussion. Here, it serves as a programmatic prologue. It's a "tractatus drumologico metaphysicus": "in the beginning there was..." – this is the genesis, where things become fundamental. The beat upon waking, the beat upon falling asleep, and the heartbeat in between – a syncopated heartbeat subtly permeates the entire album as a kind of leitmotif. But ultimately, it's about a genesis: how a beat becomes a rhythm. A rhythm in which existence unfolds, a rhythm in which music happens.
Produced by Odilo Clausnitzer
Recorded on March 23-25th, 2021, and mixed by Nico Raschke at Hansahaus Studios Bonn, Germany
Mastered by Philipp Heck at Bauer Studios Ludwigsburg, Germany
This production is supported by Initiative Musik gGmbH with project funds from the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media.
