Foaie Verde means "green leaf" in Romanian, but is also an exclamation of rapture, consternation or astonishment. Both describe this studio concert more than aptly: lively, powerful and full of emotion.
Musically at the highest level, exploring all facets of musical expression, Foaie Verde draws the audience into an ecstatic frenzy of tones and sounds that you will carry with you like stored solar energy.
On this evening, the musicians demonstrated an enormous range of tempos, rhythms and timbres. On the one hand, there were the intricate, fast, yet always precise melodic runs of the two violinists Sebastian Klein and Felix Borel, then again the swaying bayan of Vladimir Trenin. Frank Wekenmann on guitar and Veit Hübner on bass provided the rhythmic and harmonic framework with no less precision and enthusiasm. The singer Katalin Horváth interpreted the traditional melodies with great style and brought the content of the songs closer to the audience with her stories.
