After repeatedly having the classic quintet sound with trumpet, tenor saxophone, piano, double bass, and drums in mind, and over the years composing more and more pieces for this ensemble, the logical consequence was to form the Christian Meyers Quintet. EAST AUTUMN features all these pieces: it grooves as in "A Glimpse Of Past Events," it swings as in "Jim’s Jump," but there are also calm pieces like "Still Around," and even a playful calypso in "Berlin Pancake." Autumn is Christian Meyers' favorite season, and with the chosen album title, he acknowledges the fact that autumn in Berlin is often relatively cold.
